Captex medium chain esters are preferred lipophilic vehicles and solvents, used alone or in combination with other excipients, in the development of solution, suspension, emulsion and microemulsion formulations for various delivery system. They are generally used to solubilize or disperse active substances and polar lipids. Water-in-oil (W/O) microemulsions containing medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) and medium chain glycerides (MCGs) provide formulation and absorption enhancements.
